NASYA, the National Ayurveda Students and Youth Association, is an initiative under Vigyan Bharti aimed at promoting and strengthening Ayurveda at the grassroots level. Since its launch in 2008 during the 3rd World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) at NIA, Jaipur, NASYA has grown significantly. Today, it has active units in 22 states across India and over 10,000 lifetime registered members.
NASYA is dedicated to improving the standards of Ayurveda education and empowering its students and youth. It channels the energy and creativity of young Ayurveda enthusiasts to build a healthier, disease-free India - helping reduce the country's overall healthcare burden. Over the years, NASYA has set many milestones. It played a key role in reviving Ayurveda during its renaissance period, especially after the Ministry of AYUSH was established in 2014. Through innovative and impactful initiatives, NASYA has raised awareness, sparked interest, and built confidence among Ayurveda professionals and students.
The organization has designed and implemented various projects to strengthen the Ayurveda ecosystem. These efforts have received support from government bodies like the Ministry of AYUSH, CCRAS, and NCISM. Reputed institutions such as NIA, LPU, and Patanjali have also partnered with NASYA for national and international seminars, workshops, conferences, and other major events. NASYA is known for organizing unique and concept-driven academic programs that have no precedent in Ayurveda history. These activities have helped NASYA establish a strong presence throughout India.
NASYA – A Unified Vision for Ayurveda The National Ayurveda Students and Youth Association (NASYA) is dedicated to promoting Ayurveda in all its dimensions — education, research, practice, and entrepreneurship. It aims to build confidence among students and youth, preserve ancient knowledge from manuscripts, and strengthen both theoretical and practical learning. NASYA encourages scientific research that connects Ayurveda with modern methods, and supports the development of new tools, treatments, and publications. The organization brings practitioners together to improve patient care and spread awareness. It also promotes Ayurveda-based businesses, medicinal plant conservation, and better drug formulations. Through conferences, training, and international collaborations, NASYA works to make Ayurveda a vital part of India’s health system and cultural identity.

India faces unique and complex challenges on its path toward becoming a welfare state. Addressing these effectively requires rapid progress in science and technology, deeply aligned with India’s rich cultural heritage. In this context, Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), a science movement rooted in the spirit of swadeshi, has a vital role to play.
The Swadeshi Science Movement was initiated at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, by a group of eminent scientists under the guidance of Prof. K. I. Vasu. The movement steadily gained strength and evolved into a national organization. It was formally launched across India on October 20–21, 1991, at a meeting in Nagpur, where it was named Vijnana Bharati.
Today, VIBHA has active units in 22 states and presence in 4 more. It operates across 11 key domains through autonomous institutions, independent organizations, and project-based initiatives.
As a vibrant force for promoting Swadeshi sciences, VIBHA bridges traditional and modern scientific knowledge, as well as natural and spiritual sciences. It represents a dynamic movement that adapts modern science to meet India's unique national needs.
Mission and Vision of Vijnana Bharati
Vijnana Bharati is committed to promoting Bharatiya heritage by fostering a harmonious integration of physical and spiritual sciences, where both realms nourish and enrich each other. It seeks to rejuvenate the Swadeshi spirit in the modern era of science and technology, channeling it toward the holistic reconstruction of the nation.
A key objective is to develop a unified script and standardized scientific terminology across all Bharatiya languages, enabling wider accessibility and deeper rootedness of scientific knowledge. The movement actively promotes science education imbued with Swadeshi values, using local languages and mass media to reach all sections of society.
Vijnana Bharati also strives to raise awareness about Bharat’s profound contributions to the evolution of modern science, ensuring that this legacy is recognized and respected. Toward this end, it engages with educational authorities to incorporate India’s scientific heritage into school curricula and academic textbooks at all levels, fostering pride and continuity in national knowledge systems.
With a humble beginning in 1991 at Nagpur, Vigyan Bharati has grown to such an extent that it is well known as the largest scientific movement in the nation to address the scientific and technological concerns of India. This Swadeshi Science Movement was started in Indian Institute of Science- (Bengaluru) by a few eminent scientists under the guidance of Prof. K. I. Vasu. Vijnana Bharati now has 36 (Prant) units across India and has 6 Science India Forum (SIF) Units in Gulf region.
